NAVSEA contract award

NAVSEAVirginia Beach, VA – VSD announces that it has been awarded a subcontract under The GBS Group to provide information technology support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Ship Systems Engineering Station (SSES) in Philadelphia, PA. SSES is the Navy’s principal Test and Evaluation Station and In-Service Engineering Agent. The GBS Group will provide information technology support for various Machinery Information Systems and Technology programs managed by SSES.

The GBS team of engineers and software developers will provide In-Service Engineering / Life Cycle Engineering Management support for the Navy’s Total Ship Information Management System (TSIMS), Submarine Maintenance Monitoring Information System (SMMIS), and other machinery information system programs. The work includes engineering development, test and evaluation, system surveys and assessments; on-site technical support, technology insertion, performance specifications, performance and data analysis, system integration, installation support, Fleet support, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) document preparation; and training support.

The contract has a one-year base period with three, one-year options to renew and has a potential value of over eight million dollars. Armed Forces Week Golf Tournament

On Friday, June 27, 2008, the Redstone Arsenal Golf Course was filled with AUSA members and non-members competing in the Armed Forces Week Golf Tournament, and swinging for a chance to get their team’s names engraved on the 27 inch “Iron Mike” rotating golf trophy. All proceeds brought in from the Four-Person Scramble went to programs supporting America’s Soldiers. Chuck Wythe, David Moniz, Jessica Bertsch, and Fred Stewart enjoyed competing as well as relaxing at the Luncheon.

VSD Selected for Innovative VALET Program

VSD, along with seven other Virginia based companies were recently accepted as participants in the July 2008 Class of the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. For the next two years VSD will work with Virginia Economic Development Partnership to integrate strategic plans, capital resources, and professional services that will support our business growth internationally. VALET provides resources that are guaranteed to be instrumental in our continued success as a company!

The VALET Program is an innovative program that was launched in January 2002 to assist companies throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia as they expand their business with international export trade. It offers a powerful combination of capital resources from the state and professional services from private-sector partners to enhance the international efforts of up to 15 companies per year. This program is the first of its kind in the United States.

ITEC 2008 - Stockholm Sweden

ITEC 2008

VSD attended the ITEC conference this past June in Stockholm, Sweden. ITEC is the only conference outside the United States that is solely dedicated to defense training, simulation, and education. In attendance at ITEC were senior officials and procurement officers from the international military and defense industry. VSD exhibited their computer-based training capabilities as well as the Vilo™ Enterprise Training Development Software Suite.

ASTD 2008 Exhibition

ASTDVSD attended the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) 2008 International Conference & Exposition in San Diego June 1-4, 2008.

ASTD leads the field in bringing forth new concepts and best practices every year. VSD exhibited our Computer-Based Training capabilities and Vilo™ Enterprise Training Development Software Suite. The event allowed us the opportunity to reach many new clients and to raise our brand awareness. Being part of ASTD was so successful that we have already reserved a space (booth #2932) for the 2009 conference in Washington DC.

United Way Community Impact Award

VSD LLC has achieved the United Way Community Impact Award due to its rank as one of the Top 50 Employee Campaigns. Only twenty-five organizations receive this award based on their demonstration of active involvement in community, campaign activities, and campaign performance. These companies are listed by total giving amount and/or by amount gain over 2006.

JMU Internship Fair

We attended the James Madison University  Internship Fair this year to seek out potential Interns for our 2008 summer internship program. We were impressed by the many highly qualified applicants from such wide variety of disciplines were interested in interning with us. We are now in the process of reviewing all of the applications that we have received.

We would like to thank JMU and all of the students that came out and spoke with us.

Contract Award

VSD is awarded yet another SEAPORT-e delivery order through our parent company, QED Systems, for continued work on Hull Mechanical and Electrical related Instructional Design, Manpower Analysis, Curriculum Development and Interactive Courseware Developement, as well as various Logistic elements for NSWC Carderrock, SSES Philadelphia.

Fleet Maintenance Symposium 2007

VSD is set to attend the Fleet Maintenance Symposium 2007 put on by the Tidewater Section of the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) with the central theme of Operations Focused Maintenance. We will have a booth next to our parent company QED.
