VSD awarded $6.8M sole source contract
VSD has been awarded a sole source contract from Naval Air Warfare Center, Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD), Orlando, Fla., for the refurbishment, delivery, installation, testing, trainer training, and contractor support for the Iraqi navy 35-Meter Patrol Boat and 60-Meter Offshore Support Vessel training systems in Umm Qasr, Iraq. Included in the contract is one year of logistical support for Iraqi engineering students in Morgan City and Houma, La., while the boats are being built.
VSD was involved in the original curriculum development and delivery as a subcontractor on the 35-meter project and the prime contractor on the 60-meter project. Total contract value is approximately $6.8 million with a performance period through June 2014.

VSD featured in U.S.-Saudi Business Brief
VSD’s recent announcement of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by VSD, LLC (VSD) and the Zamil Group of Saudi Arabia is featured in U.S.-Saudi Business Brief’s Volume XVI, Number 4, 2011 issue. Relationships such as this have been built within the Middle East and cultivated through VSD’s membership in the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (U.S.S.A.B.C). VSD met members of the Zamil Group while attending the Defense and Security Business Development Mission, which was organized by the U.S.S.A.B.C.

VSD awarded contract renewal from VDOT
VSD has received official confirmation of contract award renewal from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for technology-based solutions. Under this contract, we will continue to provide training delivery and instructional design services.
VSD, LLC awarded $15,050,000 contract
VSD, LLC (VSD) has been awarded a contract from Naval Air Warfare Center, Training Systems Division, Orlando, Fla., to provide the design, fabrication, installation, and testing of the Iraqi navy training systems and the training development and delivery for the 60-Meter Offshore Support Vessel (OSV). Total contract value is $15,050,000 and work is anticipated to be complete in November of 2011.
VSD will develop, construct, and deliver training for and manage the team of contractors in the development of four simulators to include the Full Mission Bridge Trainer, 30mm Fire Control Trainer, Engine Control Room Trainer, and Small Arms Trainer. The training effort will involve OSV operation and maintenance to Iraqi naval personnel in one training session in Morgan City, La. The effort also includes support for Iraqi engineers who will monitor the ship’s construction. The training shall ensure the Iraqi sailors have a working knowledge of OSV operation and maintenance to sustain operational requirements and systems availability throughout the OSV service life.

VSD in the news: WVEC profiles VSD for Iraq training contract
WVEC, the local ABC affiliate, profiled VSD for the recent win of a $23 million contract to train Iraqi sailors in an effort to help the Iraqis guard their own offshore oil rigs. Currently, the security of these vital economic resources is handled entirely by U.S. troops stationed in Iraq. The plan is to ready Iraqi troops and then hand over responsibilities to the Iraqis, allowing U.S. troops to come home.

VSD to subcontract for Swiftships in $23 million contract
VSD, LLC, as a subcontractor to Swiftships Shipbuilders, LLC, has been awarded a contract from Naval Air Warfare Center, Training Systems Division, Orlando, Fla., to provide the Iraqi Navy with training and training systems. The contract value exceeds $23 million and the work will be conducted over the next 13 months. VSD, LLC will develop and deliver training and manage the team of contractors in the development of the training systems to include a Full Mission Bridge Trainer, a Small Arms Trainer, and a Fire Fighting Trainer. Other team members involved in this effort include Q.E.D. Systems, Inc., based in Virginia Beach, and Northrop Grumman Electronics Systems Division, located in Ocean Springs, Miss. Under this contract, VSD, LLC will oversee the training of approximately 100 Iraqi sailors in Morgan City, La., over the next year. VSD expects more than 15 new full-time jobs will be created by this effort in the Virginia Beach area, and more than 30 new full-time positions overall.

VSD received official confirmation of award of a contract from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for Technology-based Solutions.
VSD Awarded Contract from Federal Highway Administration
VSD has won the Federal Highway Administration contract for the development, revision, updating, and/or presentation nationwide of training in the broad area of Traffic Design and Operations Training. This contract requires a thorough knowledge of instructional systems design and adult learning principles and subject matter expertise. This contract will develop over a 5-year period of time and the training delivery methods will range from traditional classroom to web-based and/or computer-based to video conferencing.

VSD received official confirmation of award of a contract from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for adjunct Instructional System Designers.
NAVSEA contract award
Virginia Beach, VA – VSD announces that it has been awarded a subcontract under The GBS Group to provide information technology support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Ship Systems Engineering Station (SSES) in Philadelphia, PA. SSES is the Navy’s principal Test and Evaluation Station and In-Service Engineering Agent. The GBS Group will provide information technology support for various Machinery Information Systems and Technology programs managed by SSES.
The GBS team of engineers and software developers will provide In-Service Engineering / Life Cycle Engineering Management support for the Navy’s Total Ship Information Management System (TSIMS), Submarine Maintenance Monitoring Information System (SMMIS), and other machinery information system programs. The work includes engineering development, test and evaluation, system surveys and assessments; on-site technical support, technology insertion, performance specifications, performance and data analysis, system integration, installation support, Fleet support, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) document preparation; and training support.
The contract has a one-year base period with three, one-year options to renew and has a potential value of over eight million dollars.
